Merry Christmas! 12/25/2008

Hope you're enjoying the day! Here's a special song, just for you! (After you watch this one, check out some of the other youtube videos at the bottom of the screen.) I like 'Twas the Night Before Christmas" and Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck singing "Jingle Bells!" Have fun!

The kids had a great time on Polar Express Day. They rotated through all three first grade classrooms. In each room they made several crafts and snacks. That afternoon we ate our snack, watched (part of ) the movie, and opened our presents! Special thanks to our volunteers and to all of you for sending in supplies. We could not do this without you! Thanks for making our day so special.

I'll get these up on the picasa site soon, so that you can download any that you want! Merry Christmas!

Wow! We learned a lot this week! Every afternoon we had a different guest speaker. We are putting together a memory book and will bring it home on Monday. Be sure to ask your child about our speakers and what they taught us! Check out the pictures of our speakers below. Coming soon...a video of Claire's dad, reading Beauty and The Beast in GERMAN!!

December is starting out in an interesting way for me!! I am suffering from poison ivy! (Yes, it's still out there, even in December!) My right eye is very swollen, red, and itchy! It looks terrible in the morning, but by the afternoon the swelling goes down some. I was out 2 and 1/2 days this week, so things have been a little hectic! Mrs. Karen East was my substitute and she did a great job. She also complemented the children on their good behavior during my absence.
I am posting the December newsletter on the class website today and will be sending it home on Monday. Please check your child's home folder Monday for a letter about our Polar Express Day. We'll need some volunteers in the morning and would appreciate any help you could offer! (I apologize for the last minute requests!)

     Have a great week end!
